The following info was taken from Goldenhawk.com home of CDRwin.
--------------------------------------------

ASPI Drivers for Windows 95/98/NT/2K

If you have an Adaptec SCSI card or "Easy CD Creator", then you can download the latest ASPI drivers directly from Adaptec (http://www.adaptec.com/). These drivers will also add support for IDE/ATAPI CDROM devices under Windows 95/98/NT/2K).

Adaptec ASPI drivers for Windows 95/98/NT/2K

ftp://ftp.adaptec.com/software_pc/aspi/aspi32.exe

Digital/Compaq also has ASPI drivers for Windows NT/ALPHA (these drivers should work with all SCSI cards):

ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/alphant/symbios_aspi.zip

Symbios ASPI drivers for Windows NT/ALPHA

ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/alphant/symbios_aspi.zip

Hope the above info helps.

Ive been on that site, but the aspi32.exe only tries to update an already existing version of the ASPI-drivers, and as i dont have any at all, it doesnt work. Also the Symbios drivers does not work properly... Please, if you of anything else, or if you have an older version of the ASPI_ME program, that might work...

Unfortunately I do not have the old version of ASPI_ME :-(

Since I have upgraded to win 2000 I have been using Nero V5.0.2.4 an this works well :-)

If you let me know what version of CDRwin you use I will give it a go on my PC to see if I have any joy.

I just got the new plextor 12x burner yesterday and installed the new ASPI drivers from Adaptec and they blew me out of the water. I am not able to access either CD-ROMS and I have deleted the file manually and it still will not recognize them within Windows.

I had the same problem... What I did was use a copy of Easy Cd Creator Deluxe 4.01. Then I upgraded to 4.02 from the Adaptec web site. If I used the latest version of Easy Cd Creator (not deluxe) that came with my new 8x8x24 Yamaha burner then CDRwin would not work. When I went back to the older version of Easy Cd Creator Deluxe everything works fine. Total pain in the ass.

I'm no expert on this matter, but I though this was worth pointing out... when you follow the link provided at http://www.winchan.net/aspi/, you end up at the Adaptec site that clearly states that the ASPI32.exe should NOT be installed on Windows 2000 or ME.
I just thought I'd mention it since I almost missed it myself in my hast for a solution.

Yeah, I have the same problem - I also need the Win2K ASPI driver. And I also saw the thing on Adaptec's site that it should NOT be installed on either Win2000 or WinME.
But on fireburner's homepage it says that the Win2K driver should be availiable on Adaptec's site, but I can't find it anywhere :(

Goldenhawk technologies is basically saying that in orderf or thier software to work properly under windows 2000, you either A. need to own an adaptec card, or B. own a copy of Easy CD Creator??...if this is correct, then wtf is going on?

I have been struggling for more than two weeks trying to get my Yamaha CDR-200 burner working under W2K (using the Adaptec AHA-1542CF SCSI card).

I have tried Nero 5.0, CDRWIN 3.8 and Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4.0 with the same result - SCSI-error.

BTW, my old SCSI scanner (a Microtek ScanMaker E3) does not work under W2K either, so it appears that the problem is somewhere in the SCSI layer of W2K.

All the abovementioned soft- and hardware work fine under Win ME (and Win 98). I finally resorted to having to create a dual-boot installation with Win ME on one partition and W2K on the other.

Well, there is a way to get ASPI for 2k to work. If you have a windows 9x system its easy, first you get the aspi version checker off of adaptec and check the version of the files on the 9x PC. They can be any version(I wouldnt dare upgrade any aspi if yours works fine in 9x, sometime it causes more problems than it solves) Copy those files from your 9x machine to the 2k in there dirs( IE windows\system\ == winnt\system ) Most of the time you dont have to copy em all because you are just going to run the update from adaptecs site and "upgrade" the files...

This is unsupported by adaptec, but I've done this to many Win2K machines and have found that the systems are perfectly stable. Find a copy of EZSCSI 5.01 for NT4. Install it. Uninstall it. Now run ASPI32.exe for NT4. No more annoying "No Adaptec Products Detected" messages. Microsoft never supported ASPI on NT4 either, which isn't to say it didn't work just fine. Use these instructions at your own risk but my experience with this method has been good.

Okay all this talk about Nero...Nero this and Nero that....well I'm very happy with Nero too. That's all well and dandy. But here's the kicker: NERO DOESN'T SUPPORT BIN/CUE FILES! This is why I was forced to get FireBurner and CDRWIN. Well I downloaded the file from contamination.org and it worked! Thank you Nibbles!
