I did a clean install of win2k I installed IE6 and Norton NIS then I connected to the web updated norton defintions.Downloaded sp2.
Rebooted and installed IIS applied several patches and posted critical updates.Installed my web site.Connected to the web tested it everything functioned.I disconnected from web ran IIS lockdown.Reconnected to the web tested site seemed fine.Til I shutdown and rebooted the machine.
Now I can't access control panel get a script error box but it gets terminated before the message is visable. The HD reals very fast when I try to connect to the site or certain other sites. I get errors now when trying to open my site and some others.I have updated and run Norton,AVP and The cleaner no virus are detected.I tried to undo the IIS lockdown but the dll restore part failed unable to access adminitrative snapin message.I figure I will have to reinstall unless somone knows what I need to do to fix all that. But I am also wondering what went wrong and how to avoid it again this is the second time this happened. So apperently I made the same mistake twice.I am guessing I should get all programs installled prior to installing IIS but I hate to do all that and install IIS again to have the same result..
Any tips greatly appreciated.Note I did try running the site under Indigoperl but it wouldn't fully funtion thats what brought me to IIS.Which I am not likeing one bit at this point.

Update I reformated to resolve the admin snap in problem.Installed IIS and patched it before getting online.
I haven't run lockdown but I did run the code red cleaner once and the nimda tool from symantec.Just as a precaution.
Now I can get one perl test script to execute. But the main one in the same folder returns a permission denied message.I set the site to allow .exe now I'm stuck for the moment can't seem to get the permissions set to allow the script to run now.

Ok I got permissions set to allow the script to execute. Now how do I secure the access to prevent the likes of nimda from it?
I'm a little gunshy of the lockdown tool. After the last times.Any suggestions on how to do this? Cause I really have no clue aside from trying lockdown again?
Thanks Peter

Ok it happened again seems to be when I install neotrace pro??WTF Once again shells screwed can't use this and that.Bla Bla same identical thing as before.Well guess I'll keep pluggin away at it.Just wish it didn't take so long to reinstall lol! Still thinkin either a bug with a MS hotfix or IE6 or Neotrace or viri most likely the last since no ones replied with any information regarding this. If I figure out the true cause I'll be sure to add to this post.Otherwise unless someone adds to it I will start a new one should I have anymore questions regarding IIS.

Ok took a while but I found the missing link I think.I use AOL lol enough said!!!
Actually what I think was happening is when I installed windows it setup IE5.01
I have done this before and then run AOL setup which updates IE to 5.5 I made the mistake of assuming the 7.0 version I had burned did this too.It didn't so when I installed IE6 from my backup I went from IE5.01 to IE6 which I believe may have caused most if not all of my trouble.I will finish reinstalling everything tonight and tester out again hopefully all is well.

Yup thats excactly what I did wrong.Never had anything to do with the IIS Lock Down tool.I just ran it in suicide mode and everything is working as it did before.
Guess I just had to learn the hard way as usual.
