Have Win2k-sp2 on a machine with an Intel 815E m/b. Being uninformed of the apparantly well-known disastrous implications, I installed Roxio's Easy CD Creator 5 Basic and now any attempt to boot in any mode gives a blue screen with "Inaccessible Boot Device".

What the hell do I do now? Re-format & re-install everything? Is there no way to fix this thing? The Roxio site is "down for maintenance". What kind of world have we created for ourselves (well, I digress)...

When I installed Roxio.. I was getting the blue screen of death ( As Tech. People call it ) The Only way I would think of doing is getting rid of Roxio and using Nero.. after I got rid of Roxio and using Nero.. I haven't had any problems what so ever.

Had the same problem, search the MicroSoft support site, the fix was a easy regedit change...don't remember what or where in the MS site it was but it's there and it's easy.

Probably a dumb question but did you back up your registry at anytime before you installed Roxio? If so see if you can restore it. If not your pretty much screwed. I had a customer with a similar problem like yours. She installed a Brother print driver and her machine would blue screen in normal mode, safe mode, Last Known Good Config. I tried to repair the install using the W2k install disc and I couldn't rescue her machine. I had to reformat and reinstall W2k. To save you some time and frustration in the future use the backup utility in W2k and back up your registry as often as you can.

Boot the computer hit F8 when it allows this(prompt on bottom of screen) Pick safe mode. after the machine boots into W2K in safe mode go to add remove programs and remove ROXIO software.
When you can get to their site download the update, then install ROXIO again, do NOT allow reboot. Then install the update and allow the reboot at that time.
