to help others avoid the problems I had after putting lilo/grub on the mbr of a dual boot system, I advise keeping the boot loaders separate by using ntldr to run grub/lilo. for instructions see: http://www.geocities.com/epark/linux/grub-w2k-HOWTO.html http://jaeger.morpheus.net/linux/ntldr.php
