Win2K w/o AD

Comment:
In an environment with several networked Win2K servers that aren't using AD Services, what type of PDC/BDC "style" configuration can be utilized? In other owerds can these servers be setup to replicate to a fellow server in some fashion?
I'm trying to encourage the company to implement AD but it isn't currently a high priority for them.

W2K doesn't use the PDC/BDC format of NT4. To be honest, once you do a little homework, setting up AD isn't that difficult. My network is using AD and it has turned out to be very helpful and I am glad I did the research before hand. Unless they have some major reasons why to not move to AD, I would push that it be mandatory.
Good luck,
Eric

The decision to implement AD isn't mine but I am trying to push them to do so. I'm aware that 2000 doesn't use the PCD/BDC model like NT4 used. I was using that simply as a reference for my desired goal. Can replication be configured within the environment I described? Have I provided enough information to answer the question?

Dear, Active Directory is meant to replicate the data Automatically and this is the best feature of win2k.Its not possible to replicate automatically in NT you have to do it manually .. Sorry you have to make them to use AD..

Understood. I suspected that AD was going to be needed for replication but wanted to be absolutely sure. I'm still not sure why they have 2000 servers without AD but now I'll have a much easier time as I push the idea.
