Comment:

Our win2k suddenly cannot connect to cable. We talked with comcast and it is not their challenge. We uninstalled and reinstalled tc/isp (whatever) and got on long enough to download McAfee. We have a router for our home network. The xp home is just fine on either side of the router with opposite cables. 2k will not work in either room. We are down to either a virus or a bad ethernet. How does one determine if either of these items is/are the culprits? This is not the modem or both computers would drop.

Connect the modem via USB instead of the Ethernet Card and see if you have connectivity. If you do, then it's a bad card.
