Comment:
I am trying to network a Windows 2000 sp4 mahcine to a windows XP home Machine. I suceessfully install the network, and both machines ping each other and see each other perfectly fine. The Win XP home machine can access the 2k machine fine, as it set up a user account for it on the 2k machine. However the problem is when i try and access the XP machine from the 2k machine, i am prompted with a network user name and password box, with the line \\lynx , lynx is the name of the XP machine, I have tried creating administrator accounts on the xp machine and using that user and pass, but no luck. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanx

try prefixing the username with the name of the XP box and a forward slash. like this "machinename\username" (without the quotes) and then tab down to enter the password.
