win2k setup prob with adaptec scsi

when i install win2k with my scsi 4.5 gb western digital hdd with my adaptec scsi controller and scsi cd rom the computer hangs at the hardware setup part, cant even get into windows to fix it. but when i remove all my scsi devices i use my ide it works perfectly, why is this, can someone please help!!!
