Hello all... first time post here.

I installed service pack 4 on my bosses computer last night and now he has a very strange problem.

When he tries to go to any network location it doesn't show the contents of the folder and explorer stops functioning and has to restart.

So... example...

He goes to the server called SERVER... no problem... he sees all folders listed there.

He then clicks on a folder called FOLDER... it appears to open but nothing is shown in the window. Then he closes explorer and it tells him that it's not responding, so it restarts.

... repeat...

This is not a permissions problem... he didn't have this problem ever before I installed SP4.

Does anyone have any idea what could be happening here?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure if that is the problem or not, but I will check it out.

Thanks for the info!

what about these steps:
1 install ris in the network
2 dump a slipstreamed cd to a image file
3 clone from the cd
4 visit windows update from the new cloned machnine
5 dump the machine the ris-server using riprep.exe
6 clone from the riprep image and you will get all updates
There are ways of slipstreaming updates, but usually it is more troublesome than setting up a ris server
