Have you installed the DNS server service?
Is the DNS server service started?
Have you created Forward and Reverse Lookup Zones? This was the problem on our Win2K Srv DC.
Hope this helped,

The problem is probably DNS. During boot it will contact DNS to find or register services. Make sure DNS is installed or configured properly.
By the way, you don't need reverse lookup zones so they would have no effect on the boot time.

A PIII with 128 MB of RAM?
Could be a hardware issue as well.Check your network connection, switch, router etc. If there is a problem there, Win 2k Server takes a while to boot properly during the network services stage of bootup.

Win2k server really does take a long time to boot. Mine took about 15 minutes also. Pretty crappy considering how often it has to be rebooted.
I did pare the boot time down to 10 minutes by turning of IIS, which is a security nightmare anyway.
Server OS indeed. I s---canned it and went with RedHat, which boots in about a minute and a half, AND loads Proftp, Apache, Samba, and sendmail in the process.
Wish I could be more helpful, but I think Tech Daddy has the most helpful suggestion. Add more RAM. W2K server chokes on 128MB.

yes win 2k takes alot time to boot, if its working as Domain controller it takes more time. There was same problem with my 2k server(DC) on which i had installed Dhcp also.Sometimes it was taking more than four five hours to boot.
