In Windows 98 i used to do a registry defrag from time to time like this
from windows 98's Registry Editor
Export all keys to a file.regthen at the next reboot
smartdrv
regedit /c file.regBut in Win2K, registry needs to have itself defraged (cleaned up), anyone here know the procedure to do it?

i use systemsuite 2000 from ontrack.
it has alot of great utilities to keep your computer and win 2000 running in top shape.

I knew about that, one, but i'm looking like the way i said in the question on a way to do it manually like in 98 but in 2K, not everywhere is OnTrack SystemSuite 2000 installed, if someone knows how to do it, with built in Windows 2000 components and utilities, i would appreciate

No not that kind of defrag, registry defrag i mean over here, is whenever you create/add / remmove keys in 9x, NT, 2K, the removed keys are removed but the removed place is not taken or freed for others to use, it becomes a blank spot, the export process would create a registry export file, that you use another process (witch i don't know yet!) to rebuild from zero, actually all those holes are not there after the process, since the registry was rebuilt from scratch, tho loosing a few MB's of slack space and being optimised
