Yes I have tried safe mode. I know I can reinstall but that is an easy solution. I use partition magic a lot and would like to know the connection with my problem. Somehow I think resizing the partition damaged the logon password. How do I get out this mess.Is there any way I can edit my logon password before booting the system?

Why don't you try loading the setup and enter the recovery console?

Then you can use either one of these commands to re-write your boot, partition table with a new and fresh set of addresses that WIN2K uses to boot and load your files.

FixMbr (This command will re-write your Master Boot Record which contains information about your partitions and boot places.)

FixBoot (This command will re-write your boot sector which tells your computer to run the selected OS.)

I suggest that you fully read Microsoft's Knoweldge Base before you attempt any of these recovery methods. I am NOT RESPONSIBLE for any DAMAGES that are CAUSED as a result of these commands or parctice of the suggested solution. DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Search for "Recovery Console"

good luck.
