Hello,
I am having an issue with my internet since I connected my 2 Windows 2000 Pro machines together using 10 MBPS Ethernet. I can dial up and log in, but I cannot get to any web pages unless I know the IP address. My email had the same problem. I had to change the name of my SMTP servers to the IP addresses to get email to work. I tried to reverse all the changes I made. I disconnected the LAN connection and tried to dial up with just the main machine, and I had the same problem. Has anyone else ever experience this problem? I feel like I have tried everything, is there something I am missing? Thanks for your help.

Jack

If you're not getting name resolution (FQDN to IP address) then it has to be DNS. Check the DNS setting on both PC's TCP/IP Properties and if necessary, point them at a DNS server on the internet (your ISP's DNS server would be good)
