Win2k ntoskrnl.exe and KMODE_Exception

Iv read some of the questions here regarding this problem with the ntoskrnl.exe at startup and I have another shot at it. Im trying to -install- win2k on my dual PIII with a working version of Win98. The problem occurs when the installation has restarted and come to the blue screen where it "loads" several drives. When it comes to the "CD-ROM filesystem" (that would be floppy disk 4 if I were to install it from a floppydirve) then the screen goes black and after that I get a bluescreen right up my face with a STOP (0x0000001E) KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED and the file where the error occurs is ntoskrnl.exe. I have about 5 GB on the partition on wich I install the system on, (samsung HD) and I have disconnected the CD, tried with only one processor and unpluged everything exept for the graphic card. How do I make Win2k go around this problem/fix the ntoskrnl.exe? I installed win2k on the very same system before (the brands on hd, cpu, grapiccard wernt the same though) and It worked just fine. What could be the problem??

The problem? Probably that you're trying to Upgrade and not do a fresh install. I'd recommend backing up all your data, removing any extra hardware, wiping the drive, booting from the Windows 2000 CD (and yes, the Upgrade CD has all the files to install from scratch, you'll just need to make the 4 boot floppies), and install the OS......

Iv done all that a million times already, but as I said, it still hungs at the CD filesystem with the error above, even with the floppy disks I ALWAYS make a fresh install. Here is the error code as well: KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED STOP (0X0000001E) (0XC0000005, 0X80468D26, 0X00000001, 0X00000000) ADRESS 80468D26 BASE AT 80400000. DATESTAMP 384D5A76 - ntoskrnl.exe
