Comment: This has become quite a pain. Im trying to share folders across a LAN with win2k as my OS. I have tryed all sorts with User configurations etc etc etc, setting passwords and whatever but it doesn't seem to work. I need some specific help or even a walkthrough on how to set it all up. I have only just installed 2win2k from 98se. Man 98se networking was so much simpeler. Anyway if anyone can help PLEASE post here, even if its just a link to a website with LAN file sharing guides or whatever, much apreciated. -Princess_Frosty

Reply: (edit)For another user to be able to connect to a W2K machine they need to have the same user account with the same password created on the W2K machine. Or, you need to enable the Guest account on the W2K machine and have users connect to it via that account. This is implemented in W2K as a security measure. -MW

Reply: (edit)Thanks that worked I can allow people on the network to see the files and get access, the next think i want to do is add specific user accounts such that each one has its own password and username. I have fiddled and can't seem to get it working, the users and groups are confusing, is there anyone that can help. i really apreciate the help so far thanks MW

Reply: (edit)http://www.helmig.com http://www.practicallynetworked.com will both take you through it all; I'd start with Helmig's site. Also get yourself a copy of Mark Minasi's: Mastering Windows 2000 series of books (Sybex pubs.) They contain all you need to know/understand.
