While fiddling around with Linux boot loaders,I've managed to make system unable to boot Windows 2000, which is installed on the first partition of my hard disk.
When I try to boot, I see "disk error". I've booted with the floppies and tried fixboot and fixmbr, but with no sucess. I've made sure the ntldr and ntdetect.com files are there.
I just want to set the mbr back to its original state so that I can boot windows. Is this possible? A reinstall seems a drastic measure.

Hi Charlie. put your boot disk in and at the prompt type C:fdisk /mbr Remember to leave a space between the k and the / . this will refresh your master boot recordHave a nice day Charlie.
