hi
I have a laptop with win xp 2 partitions c and both NTFS formats...i wanted to install win2k and hence started setup using 4 startup disks...i dint want to loose data in d drive ..and hence wanted to format c: which has xp so that i can install win2k..
now here came the prob...
after deleting c drive..the system started to format it to be able to install win2k..but an error occurred saying that c drive could not be formatted as it maybe damaged..!! and now i have no operating system on my laptop..how do i get around this prob?? will making more partitions is c drive whcih is 10 gb help?? i have another partion which is d: which is 10 GB but i dont want to loose exixting data on it..
If anyone wat i can do please do let me know

Boot with the w2k cd, and during the initial setupl it will ask you what partition you wish to install to. Choose the partition you wish to install to, e.g. cdrive ( you should see both partitions at this point, if you dont then you should see un-partitioned space and the d drive),
After choosing the partition you wish to install to, it will then ask if you wish to leave the current file system intact or format, setup will give options of fat or ntfs. choose the option you want. setup will then format the partition and then carry on with the install.
