Hi, have a big problem.
I just bought and installed a new ASUS motherboard. After installing the MB, Win2K loads halfway and does a "disk check for inconsistency". Took like 15mins, after that was done, Win2K loads up. BUT the data on my HD is messed up! Half of my files don't open anymore but the other half do. They were working fine before with my old Intel MB. Anybody have any clues as to what the Win2K harddrive check did to my files? I put re-installed my old MB to see if it was the MB, but the files still do not work.
Here's my system config for reference.
Intel P4 1.6Ghz
1x512MB DDR333
ASUS P4P800S (Intel 848 Chipset)
WD 160GB 7200, 8MB
Win2K Pro w/SP4My old MB was a Intel 865PET2.
My HD is split 40GB (C Drive for OS and programs) and 109GB (D Drive for Storage).
Thanks for any help in advance.

what file system are you using on your harddisk? Fat32 or NTFS?
The inconsistent disk check thing is because all microsoft operating systems do not like ppl changing major parts. i.e motherboards without doing a full re-build, did you not back up the files before you fiddled with the hardware?
first thing you do if you have any common sense. but if you have ntfs then the file permissions have been reset, otherwise the files are screwed, try looking at the security permission (if using ntfs) on the c: or the file that doesnt work and make sure the appropriate users have access to read and write them.

Thanks for the reply.
It's NTFS. When it did the consistency check though, it didn't check my C:\ partition (the one with only Win2K and Apps), instead, it checked the D:\ partition which only contained data. I took a look at the permissions, and they were just like they were before.
Anyway, any additional comments/replies would be greatly appricated.
Thanks all
