Comment:

hi
i'm running win2000 server on a LAN and tried to enable ICS so that other client computers(including 1 winxp, 1 win98 and 1 redhat8.0 computers) can access the internet as long as i'm on the net.

i enabled the ICS feature but got the following every time i boot my computer:

a pop-up window with the title "service control manager" read:
at least one service or driver failed furing system startup. Use event viewer to examine the event log for details.

i took a loot at the event viewer and found the following error:
Description: The Internet Connection Sharing service hung on starting.

and expectedly, those LAN computers are not able to access the internet.

so what's the problem and how can i fix it?

Thanks a lot,
rock

You've probably enabled ICS for the wrong interface. It needs to be the Internet interface (DSL/cable modem or whatever).
