hi,
i am trying to install a western digital 7200 ata/100 80 gb drive on my epox 8k7a+ mobo using the primary raid bus (i just want to use it as a third ide bus) and the hard drive is recognized by my bios and device manager but i cannot access fdisk to partition it at all and windows 2k pro takes a long, long time to boot whenever i plug in that drive...is this just a compatibility issue or can something be done?

ok, not sure what you mean by "i cannot access fdisk to partition it at all" so... boot up with a Win9x disk and run FDISK. It should show the drive, if it doesn't then check your jumpers, cables, and BIOS settings. Otherwise let Windows 2000 try to boot and right-click My Computer and choose Manage. then choose Storage/Disk Manage (or something like that) and partition the drive....
