I have Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 3 installed on my computer.

Whenever I restart or shutdown, the computer closes out of Windows, the "Please Wait..." dialog box appears, then closes, then the black screen appears and the system hangs. I've let the black screen stay on over night to see if I was just being impatient, but the computer did not shutdown or restart. Just a black screen and the light above the power button glowing.

Do you have any suggestions on what I can do to have my computer automatically shutdown or restart?

Thanks for your help.

David
