Heloo . I have just bought a 40GB Maxtor and set it as a slave drive . It is auto-detected in BIOS , but when it boots to Windows 2000 , the drive doesn't show up in My Computer , but a check in Device Manager displays the drive there . How to solve this problem ?

Reply:
go to device manager and uninstall your disk and restart
it will find a new device and try to install it on its own... let it happen... u'll see the drive again on device manager and iu will be able to access it
also chk the JUMPER settings if that doesnt work
uninstalling your HDD wont take any data away... so its perfectly alrite

You need to partition the drive before Windows will see it. From there you can format it within Windows.
