I edited my Default Domain Group Policy using a WinXP machine and now I can no longer access the Group Policy to make further edits. When I try to edit the Group Policy I get the error message: "Failed to Open the Group Policy Object. You may not have appropriate rights. Details: Unspecified error."

I was told that I need to do an authoritative restore of the System State data from before my edits, but I don't have the ID or pass that was used for DCPROMO, so I cannot boot into Directory Services Restore Mode.

Is there any other way to repair the Group Policy? I now know not to use a WinXP machine for editing any GP's!
