Win2k can't connect thru Network Neighbo

I have a Win2k Professional workstation on the domain. I can logon fine to the domain, but can't get to any servers or workstations on the domain thru Network Neighborhood. I receive the message "No logon server available to validate your request." This workstation was working fine at one time. I removed the workstation from the domain and added it to a workgroup and was able to get to all servers and workstations on the domain thru Network Neighborhood at that time. I have a computer account created for this workstation on the domain. In Network Neighborhood I can see all servers and workstations on the domain, but can't get to them. The user account I am using is set up with admin privledges on the domain and on the workstation. I ran "echo %logonserver% and verified that I am being logged on by our DC. The DNS settings appear to be the same as all other workstations. I do have a question about Win2k and DNS. We already have a DNS server that I believe is a UNIX system with FreeBSD. Will not using Win2k as DNS cause any problems?

I'd first double-check your DNS settings. See if you can ping IP addresses or computer names.....

I can ping both ip address and computer names. All our other workstations work fine, and the DNS setting appear to be the same.

Don't worry about your DNS not being a W2k. The most DNS ( 90% including the internet) are Unix based servers. If it were otherways round, nothing in the internet would be working at all !
The other problem: Do you already have drives mapped to a server when you try to connect via network neighborhood and get the error message? Then these drive mappings are from the workgroup, I would assume. Delete all mapped drives and try again. Maybe you need a reboot, you know, it's MS!!

The UNIX system should be fine with Win2K. In the Win machine I'd suggest you take a good look at the network properties. Many times, connection problems are the result of a misspelled workgroup name or some other setting in the properties.
