Comment:

I have two machines with win2k and two with win 98, all connected to a router. All can get to the internet, the two win2k machines can share only with each other. The 2k machine could not see the '98 machine until I enabled netbios on TCP/IP. They now can see the '98 machines, but when I attempt to open one in the network places, I get "network path not found". Anybody got any suggestions?

Thanks

Make sure that:
1. You have identical usernames with identical passwords set up locally on each machine
2. "File & Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" is enabled on both
3. At least one folder is shared on each

Hope this helps,
Cleo

Ummm...

If Cleo's suggestions don't get U going...

Perhaps useful to redirect you to a tutorial or two...? That way you can go through it all step-by-step; and also have a 'how to' resource for future use?

u need name resolution for computers to locate each other on the network.

netbios or tcp/ip should do the trick, shouldnt need both. and if u r accessing the net, make sure u move tcp/ip to the top of the list.

make sure u have all computers in a single domain, or workgroup, in network identification, in network properties.
then use the ping command etc, to trouble shoot.
