Reply: (edit)How much ram do you have? Have you done the routine computer maintenence tasks, empty temp internet files, scan disk and defragmented the harddrive recently? What anti-spyware programs do you use, and when was the last time you used their scans and what did the detect(Adaware/Spybot available at http://www.wilders.org/)? What firewall do you have installed and have you noticed any unusual outgoing program/traffic requests? Did you install the XP "msconfig" tool to allow you to disable and have only the necessary programs starting at startup, especially important if you have limited ram capacity like 128 or less?

Reply: (edit)i have 128 for ram, i havent installed any anti-spyware programs nore run any defrag or scan disk, i figured since i just did a reformat then there couldnt really be a whole lot on the system that could cause anything like this, as for the msconfig, im really not sure how to do that or what it does(maybe an explanation if possible) hope to hear back thanks.

Reply: (edit)Just make sure that you have the following Microsoft Critical Updates, firewall and antivirus installed. You can get the msconfig program from http://www.techadvice.com/ under the Windows Support area for 2000. You use it to see and control what programs are being started at startup. You will be surprised by the results of defragging your harddrive. The cheapest performance option you could do is get another 128 of ram from http://www.crucial.com/
