I am having problems where my system files (c:\winnt\system32\config, system, software, sam, default, security) and user profile files are repeatedly found to be corrupt upon restart.

With a clean install of Windows 2000Pro, including version 1.3 of the RAID driver for my VIA KT133A RAID, and service pack 3, I have corruption of my c:\winnt\system32\config files (system, software, sam, security, default) on a regular basis. What that means is about once in every 5 restarts I will get a hive file corruption message which causes me to have to go to a back up of my c:\winnt\system32\config files. I have also experienced corruption of one of my user profiles.

I have never had any other type of file corruption on this machine - it only seems to happen with the important system files.

A friend of mine suggested that it may be a problem with the disk controller shutting itself down before it has finished writing its cache to disk thus corrupting the last files it was working with.

Other system details:
AMD Thunderbird 1.0 GHz
256 M RAM

This is also a "me too" response to an earlier posting in Dec of 2002.
