win2000 Pro install error

When I am done with the coping of win2000 files on my C-drive and I start my PC with it. First, the OS runs through all the hardware and tells me that the majority of them are not win2000-supporting. When I finally get to the part when OS is "registrating" the file, the computer just stops! I tried to leave it over night, but that does seem to help. Suggestion?

"...the OS runs through all the hardware and tells me that the majority of them are not win2000-supporting..." says it all?
Before attemtping to install W2K, did you run the chkupgrd.exe util (usually on the W2K CD); it generates a report re' what is/isn't OK for W2K. Likely as not you need to get all the required drivers etc; probably will require a bios update too... (presuming they are available?).

Sounds like your system is just hanging up, most likely due to the hard drive. Are you running an older system? It could be that the hard drive is on its way out, or it may be time for a system upgrade.
