hey guys..

Quick question. Wat OS would u recommend for a Celeron 400mhz, with 380mb of Ram, and a 4Gb HD (HD could be upgraded).

It would only be used for word processing and some small flash and photshop work, NO GAMES

Win2000 or Win98? and why?

Thanks heaps..

W2k....

windows 2000 compared to 98 is revolutionary... its like the 95 from a 3.1

The security of w2k is amazing (NTFS technology). stability is amazing.

although you can tweak a 98 much more then a w2k is stability is horrible... as you may knoiw the Blue screen of death appears often... well it never appears on a 2k machine

better use of your processor as well

Just ensure you that this system is OK for W2K and you have all required drivers for W2K - before you start installing W2K...

Ideally check with the web-site for MoBo/bios etc. for updates and so on. Also wise(?) to run the W2K chkupgrd.exe util; this latter item vets the system as is and produces a report on what is/isn't OK for W2K installation.

A larger hard-drive would most definitely be advisable... W2K + apps/utils will prefer "a little more space..."
