win2000 only starts in safe mode

hey guys ok, here is the situation. Win2000 was started in safe mode with networking and since then it wouldn't boot normally. F8 doesn't help. Any suggestions? Thanx

keep tapping f8 the whole time(right when u turn on ur computer) try f5 too if that doesnt help
Why were u going into safe mode? Its possible that part of ur boot sector went bad

Hi. Insert a boot disk and at the Dos Prompt type fdisk /mbr this will refresh your master boot record and should solve your problem. Remember to leave a space between the k and the forward slash/ Have a nice day.

thanx uselessmitch, but like i said, F8 works it simply doesn't help, as to I can highlight the "normal mode" press enter but the bloody thing goes into safe again. Initially there was a problem with Excel, it would give an error about object linking and embedding, so it was suggested to start computer in safe mode and then restart it, so it was done. The rest of the story you know.

YOu can make the w2k bootdisks by running the makeboot32.exe on your windows2000 cdrom. Its in the makeboot directory. You will need four floppies.
