Hi all
I re-installed win2000 but of no use
my explore.exe keeps on crashinf very frequently.Even simple tasks like search, delete file crash the explorere.
I checked online for virus but expect hidden trojen horses i found nothing , which i have deleted....
please help

With the crashing of Explorer I beleive there are too many calls to the processor. Try going to www.ad-aware.com and install the latest version of ad-aware. After it finds all those pesky spyware programs on your machine, you'll have to go through and click in the checkbox of EVERYTHING you want deleted. Then click DELETE.
After you have ad-aware taken care of, then go to: http://www.panicware.com/index.html and install POPUP STOPPER so you don't get those pesky spyware programs back again.
After all that is done, then you can update your antivirus again and make sure you didn't remove the autoupdate in the virus program you run. After you are done all that, you can now continue to empty out the C:\Documents and Settings\'YOU'\temp and ....\Temporary Internet Files folders as ALL and I mean all the files in both of these folders can be dumped and no harm to your machine will happen. (unless you've installed windows over again in a temp folder) After all this has been done, now you can reboot. After you've come back up again, and you still don't notice a considerable difference in speed, I'd do a backup onto a disk or another drive then blast out C:\ and re-install 2000.
I'm positive that if you follow these instructions, you will feel like you've just purchased a new machine.
Good luck and let me know what happ'nd k?
Chow for now

I don't know if this is the same problem, but I had that problem of the frequent crashes... like every few seconds, it seemed like. From my research I finally found someone who suggested I create a new login for myself and no more crashes. It worked. I'm still slowly copying stuff from my old login to my new one.
