Here is the deal. On my PC Win98SE is no more, in its place sits Win2000. Before I FDISK'ed the hard drive on Saturday, the internet connection was working fine. All three PCs were going through the hub, and the DSL Router(which is my firewall, and DHCP server) is connected to the uplink port on the hub.Now with Windows 2000 installed, DHCP and DNS were installed during setup. Before Win2000 was installed, the Router obtained all information from our ISP (Verizon Online), but now with Windows 2000 installed (along with DHCP and DNS), could the router and the NT/2000 box be conflicting (as far as DHCP, and DNS are concerned)?? Can 2 DHCP servers can co-exist on the same LAN, how do I set it up, because as of now when I go into the DHCP snap in with MMC (MS Management Console), the NT box can't recognize the router (which is my other DHCP server and Internet gateway). So , a)do you suggest trying static IPs? b)cleaning out the Networking protocols on all three (soon to be four) PCs?? c) taking the Win2000 box "offline" (and possibly reinstalling Win2K) until I get the other three PCs on the Internet???
One last thing, a) the PCs are still going through the hub b) any Ideas on how I can get my PC (Win2000 box) to recognize the router when I ping it because now i'm getting 'Destination host unreachable' ??Would this work:

DSL Router as Internet gateway, Win2000 box as DHCP server(Disable DHCP on router)???
What would I have to do to configure my Win2000 box as a DHCP server ??PLEASE HELP!!!

How about diabling DHCP on the WIN2K server? Let the router dish out IP's internally. Otherwise you will have to (as you stated) disable DHCP on the router, let the Win2K box dishout IP's and manually setup each of the 3 machines to use the router as the internet gateway (which can be a configuration nightmare in itself).

Since it is a small network, I would just let the DSL router dish out IP's and disable DHCP on the server.

what I meant to write was when you setup the 2K box to do DHCP make sure the gateway setting is the same ip as the router.
