Win2000 Boot up and close down

I have a Pent3 x 800 with W2k installed
50% of the time the boot freezes half way thru the progressive blue bands load up and the boot always succeeds on the second try.
I also always have to close down twice. All the Iconds remove themselves from the tray but the close down always hangs for a second instruction.?
Appreciate any help

Make sure all your hardware is Windows 2000 compliant and running the latest Windows 2000 compliant drivers.
And I'm a little fuzzy on the post, you do, or you do not have the OS installed?
