Comment: I'm having a problem with auto-shutdown locking up in W2K. It'll freeze just before the "it's safe to shut down..." screen. Sometimes I can hit ctrl-alt-del and get the "CLOSE PROGRAM" window. When I'm able to do that, I've noticed that the RUNDLL32 file appears mysteriously in the list of running programs. How does the RUNDLL32 file get there and is it the possible reason for the lock ups on shut down? How can I fix the problem?

Reply: (edit)I to have that same kind of problem. When I am trying to shut down, I get a screen that tells me that rundll32.exe is not responding and I have to end it before I can shut down. I am running Win 2000, can anyone tell me why this is happening, and what I can do? e-mail: jlepa007@uottawa.ca thanks

Reply: (edit)I have a problem very similar to this one. Some of my basic programs freeze and if i end RUNDLL32 then everything works. I also have a DDE Server WIndow error when I end RUNNDLL32 and then eventually shut down. Does anyone have help?? I think there is a problem with my Voodoo2 card and WinME.
