Can someone please tell me how can i complete clear my hard drive of Data to get rid of Win2k from my root will Win 98 Debug tool work if so? how i have a Fujitsu mpe3084ae hard drive and Abit SE6 Motherboard I have tried every ting using both win 98 & 2000 to delete partions and formating and win98 wont format without saying that there is something wrong while formating of if it does when win98 tries to copy files to hdd it keeps on saying Fatal error could not write to C:\ and it takes about 2hours to load and after when done it nothing it wont work proparly. With win2k when i try to format with Fat32 towards the end it will say there is something wrong about the disk is damaged but it will Format with Ntfs and install win2k like dream!!!. Please some one explain is something to with the root in the hdd and bios mermory?.

First off i would stick to the true and trusty DOS tools like FDISK and FORMAT. They never fail me. Take a 98 startup disk and boot to it. In DOS do a x:\fdisk /mbr (that will clear the master boot record) then run thru fdisk, delete the partion(s) and repartion. esc all the way out and reboot and boot in to DOS again and do a full format. This solves 99% of problems i think with disks.

I just want to say thanks for your support i got rid of the ntfs with debug with instruc from above i done fdisk mbr then fdisk, then format c: /u/s, then suface scanedisk, which made everthing a dream but when it goes to install win 98 it keeps interupting saying Fatal error writing to disk a millions of times, so when i checked it out i have 2.6GB of bad sectors out of 8.4GB so for now i will have to stick with Win2k until i buy a new disk. Thanx!!
