Win 2K Explorer Error Message

When booting the message "Explorer Error - Restart the system" appears. I've tried many things but have been unable to proceed. I don't want to lose the data on the hard disk so I haven't tried to do a full re-install of Win2K. I've tried the Win2K system file check and also the Fix capability on the CD...no luck.

You can try the Last Known Good Configuration, or else pop the drive out and back it up using another Windows 2000 system, or else try to Repair the installation (not sure if that's what you meant by the "Fix" option), or else try reinstalling over the top of your existing installation....
