I have installed Win 2000 on my 2nd PC MMX 200 .
After instaling it worked fine.
I try restart My PC and just freez on black screen. I try F8 for help - no action.
Do I need anything change in BIOS because on boot it freezes up.

Try a cold boot and see what happens (power it all the way off, then start it). You might try running the Repair option from the CD if you can't access the F8 area.....

I'm having a similar problem. However, after I push reset, the computer will boot. This is very annoying though. I am looking for better documentation on the boot process itself.
Good luck,
Ron

Possible problems:
BIOS needs updating; Motherboard drivers; HD is W2K compatable?
Can you re-install and not apply 'your' video drivers, i.e. stay with default VGA version to start with?
Also physically remove anything not essential (NIC, Modem etc...) during set-up.

Q: I have a newer system and I'm having trouble installing Windows 2000. The setup hangs or when the desktop finally does appear, many of my devices aren't working.
A: The problem may be ACPI power management. Windows 2000 tries to install ACPI on any system with a BIOS dated January 1, 1999 or newer and there's no way to disable it after Setup. To prevent ACPI from being installed, run the installation program and hit the F5 key when you see the text "Setup is inspecting your computer." Then, choose Standard PC as your system type.from:
