My computer was freezing every now and then, no matter what programs I use. Sometimes when it was idle too it froze. So I thought I would reinstall Win 2000. When I tried that, during installation it would froze when the setup was detecting hardware and also during saving settings and registries. I had to restart many times. Well, Finally it it started doing weird things. Like after the installation, it would boot up and when the blue bar goes to the end during win2000 startup, it would reboot. It was looping and rebooting at that point. I have no idea what was causing it. I am having hard time installing software. Sometimes it would reboot again or sometimes it would freeze. I tried removing all the drives (except hard drive) and memories, but still the same thing. I thought it was power supply. But when the computer freezes, the CD drives opens and closes fine. The fans are working fine. I am baffled. Could someone please help............... Thanks in advance.

when u re-installed 2000 did u format your HD? If its a more serious problem then a simply re-install of 2k wont do anything. You may have to totally format your HD to solve the prob. As for the cd-rom drive opening thats normal, aslong as theres power to it ,it will open, regards whether windows has frozen or ur in MS DOS.
