I have a PC chip mobo, main use is business, so on board vid and sound not problem. But When I try to bring this machine to 2000 with rest it has great problems one of which is the sound card goes to irq 10. If I run 2000 as an upgrade of\ver 98se will it keep the original irq's??? ie sound at irq 7

Win 2K wants to share IRQ's, which shouldn't be a problem normally. It doesn't matter what you set them up as in your computers BIOS, Win 2K ignores all of that. Even if you set your BIOS to a non- PNP OS. I have had this same problem.

It's not a problem. I got the same situation, but on IRQ9. The reason: ACPI. Everything suppose to work fine. If not, you cannot change the IRQ settings unless you are in a Standart PC mode. To do that, simply go in your hardware manager under the items Computer you have something with the word "ACPI", change the driver for Standard PC or something like that. Sorry if i cannot tell the exact word, my system is in french.
