Comment:

I have an HP Vectra VL400/866 P3 that was running NT 4.0 when I got it. I reformatted and put win2000 on the same hard drive, but the computer says "operating system not found". The same hard drive works in an older HP Kayak XA P3/500Mhz(the one I'm using right now). What changed? (or what do I have to change)?

If Win2000 is booting on the Kayak, reset the BIOS to defaults on the Vectra and try it again.

"the same hard drive works.."

Does that mean it boots? How did you "format" and install 2000?

Sounds like you repartitioned outside of the 2000 install and forgot to make the primary partition 'active'

Imagine the power of knowing how to internet search
