hi,

i have a strange problem

i was using my laptop via wifi when suddenly i stopped getting http communication. ftp, remote desktop connections and p2p programs work fine but i cannot browse the internet, use msn or even read emails in outlook. I can ping the router and get the router's http page on my browser but i cannot see external signals and i cannot access the router's configuration (it is a hotel's connection and i'm not an admin)

From reception i was informed their internet (wired) is working fine but that other laptop wireless connections had no complaints either.

any tips?

Thanks

check you firewall. Make sure that it allows windows explorer to have access to the internet. Also go to your device manager and make sure that there are not any yellow question marks for the device. Go to the dell website and make sure your wireless card is up to date.

shame on you....you should ALWAYS have a firewall installed especially when using wireless connections.
Like Beginner1 said, you may want to try to find driver up-dates for whatever wifi card you have.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

next step would be to ping an external site.

ping www.minasi.com

if that fails, try tracert to see where it's failing.

tracert www.minasi.com
