Does anyone know where I can download the Windows 2k driver for the SONY CRX175E CD-RW??? I cant seem to find it under Sony's web site....

driver ?
the burning program you may have with the CDRW drive will use your CRX175E drive.
and that's itgood luck

Hey i have the same drive and cant get it to work for the life of me, what burning software supports this drive?

same, I have just bought this drive and cant use it apart from music match. What burning software is there for this drive??

Same problem here. I have CRX175E with NTI CD-Maker Professional and it doesn't recogonize it to have burning capabilities.
Running win2k pro. Device manager sees it as Sony CRX175E. HELP!

Roxio EZ CD Creator comes in two flavors,
Basic and Platinum. The Basic version which came supplied with my CRX175E is version 5.01 and does not recognize the drive.
However the Platinum version (upgraded to version 5.02)works fine. The Platinum version costs a lot more.
I am waiting for Roxio to produce an update to the basic version to support the CRX175E.
As of Dec 6th 2001, there is no recorder only updater available. The XP updater on the ROXIO site requires Windows XP to be installed and I have not been able to try it to see whether it supports the CRX175E since I don't have WindowsXP.

Some 6 wks ago I bought this burner from a reputable main street retailer without software, already owning CD Creator 4.02. However CD Creater would not recognise.
So I contacted Sony. They were most un-helpful. So Sony - when I next buy some PC gear, you will be at the tail end of the long list of possible OEM's. And I buy a lot of PC gear.

Yup, it seems that Sony has released a 'killer' product. WHAT a waste of my TIME!!!!! Please if anyone has any firm solutions your help would be appreciated.

Cd Creator 5.02 Platinum with the latest 502c update works for me.
Nero 5.5.6.4 also workstake xyz from the email address.

Roxio 5.02 works fine for me too.
Speed matches whatever disks I use.
Recognises x10 CD-RWs too!
Drive came with stripped down version.
But I've upgraded to platinum.
Seems many guys buy the OEM to save a buck, don't know what the're doing, & wind up spending more in the long run! Tough!

Sony Australia have it but there site is down currently for maintanence so try this link later when it comes back online. http://www.sony.com.au/support/itp

I just bought a Sony Vaio system with this drive, and Roxio 5.02 does not work for me either. Sony website is next to useless - no answers and many dead links. Way to go Sony. This will be the last computer I buy from you, and I may even return it. I'm one unhappy customer.

f--- I hate sony. Windows does not recognise this drive to have burning capabilities. I want to know where I can find the driver and i"ve looked on Sony's website and through driver places but no one seems to have it. f---. THEY SUCK

Hey guys. Found the solution.
Sony actually state that its not their responsibility to make the drivers for their own drive (I work for IBM helpdesk and thats a load of s---) instead that state that the burning software is responsible for havng the drivers to recognise the CD burning feature of the drive. Mine just thinks its a normal CD drive - so at the moment guys u cant use it with the integrated windows xp feature. Anyway if you go to the sony site at http://www.sony.com.au/content.asp?go=itp_support.asp and then click on computer products then CDRW and then click on Compatiblity these are all the programs that will recognise it as a CDburner. Remember take note especially of the versions - as if u dont have the right number even right at the end it wont work. Then simply download Nero from wherever as well as downloading the patch from www.astalavista.box.sk and go from there. f--- U SONY. contact me at skinnyrk@hotmail.com if ne probs :)

Nero 5.5.6.4 works absolutely fine with my crx175e. Takes about 4minutes 15 seconds per 700meg cd. Just get nero, its cheapish and works for most things. If you have an older version of nero as i did, it wont detect it. SO just upgrade to the latest 5.5.6.4 (free if u have 4.x.x.x 5.x.x.x nero installed already).

Im having probs with my CRX175E, I got a AMD 1.2g cpu and using Nero 5.5.6.4, but its taking about 11-14 mins to burn a full 650mb cd. THis is slower than my old 8x burner. THe new burner works fine on my frens computer, but on mine, its super slow. does anyone know why? i cant figure it out.
