I uninstalled XP and installl Window
2000. It has problem with Video
Controller, Multimedia Audio Controller
and PCI Device. I managed to solved two
Controllers problem by downloading the
Asus motherboard drivers. But The PCI
device still shown with a '!' sign.

Computer is working properly now but I
would like to solve the PCI device
problem.

Any suggestion!

By the way, the motherboard is ASUS
CUSL2-M.

I found a bit of info. about your motherboard, and posted it below.

If you look inside of your computer; you'll see 5 white slots.(according to the cart below). Those are your PCI slots. Look to see what is plugged into them. The way to tell is follow the wire from the back of your unit to where ever it goes. You may have a sound card - a video card - or any number of other items plugged into a PCI slot.

The warning you are getting is tell you that a driver is not properly installed for something that is using a PCI slot.
Find out what is plugged in to a PCI slot and is not working, then install the proper drivers and then reboot..

FJ, Thank you for taking time to help me
look for the info. Someone in
www.dslreports.com' forum guided me to
download a very useful software, I think
you might be interested to know. Through
this software, I am able to find what
cases the problem, but still not able to
find the driver.

It is the Intel Chip which caused the
problem. The exact name of this
controller is:
Intel 82801BA/BAM SMBus Controller
(ICH2/ICH2-MB0 step), izc/SMBus Serial
Bus Controller, bus 0, device 31, function
3.

I couldn't find the suitable driver from
Asus but intel site, but it doesn't works,
despite Intel provides exactly the code,
number for this driver which matches the
one causing problem. I am still looking
for the solution.

Below is the messege from that guy.

It needs a driver. Go to its properties and
tell Windows to search for a driver; it is
more than likely able to detect what it is
and find a diver for it.
If not, download SiSoftware Sandra (free)
and it will tell every PCI device you have
installed (even if it doesn't have a driver
installed) and you can go from there to
see what you already don't have drivers
for.

You need to read up on the proper proceder for upgrading the BIOS.
Win2K needs a Bios with a date after 2000. The link below will take you to the page for your motherboard. At the top of the page; you will see a tab "BIOS". CLick it and then download the latest version. Check the date. I think it's the top one on the list.

!!!!! Do this correctly !!!!!! Read and UNDERSTAND how it's done. More than likely; this will correct your problem.
