Since a couple of days I get weird behavior with Internet Explorer. If I select text in the IE window and press ctrl-c to copy the text, closing the IE window will not immediately close the IE window. Instead IE starts using 100% CPU and only after 10 seconds or so it will close.
Same happens if I copy text in IE and paste it to the notes section of a task in Outlook 2000. It takes 10 seconds before the text appears in Outlook. If I paste the same text to notepad, all is ok. If I then select the text in notepad and copy/paste to Outlook, everything is OK too. Only directly from IE to Outlook gives problems.
I also noted that my first copy / paste action produces a lot of disk activity (5 seconds). That only happens the first time I paste. This disk activitiy is then followed by the 10 seconds of CPU consumption by IE. Next time I paste the disk activity does not take place but the 10 seconds wait time remain.
Pasting from IE to Word gives no problem. Pasting from Word to Outlook gives no problem.
I de-installed and re-installed Office 2000 to no avail.
I guess this is either an IE problem or a W2K clipboard problem.
HELP!?
