I'm using IIS 5.0 on a W2k server to host a web site. Two folders on the site are protected using Basic Authentication only. I've set up two identical users, either than their name and password, and each have access to one of the gaurded folders. However, only one user can succsessfully login! When I try loggin in with the other user, I get the following error in the Event Viewer:
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: RemoteAccess
Event Category: None
Event ID: 20169
Date: 25/03/2003
Time: 8:33:44 PM
User: N/A
Computer: COMPNAME
Description:
Unable to contact a DHCP server. The Automatic Private IP Address 169.254.144.172 will be assigned to dial-in clients. Clients may be unable to access resources on the network.
Can anyone tell me what's going on?Also would Apache be a good alternative rather than IIS? I'm not sure how licenses and that sort of stuff work with Apache, or even if authentication is possible on a W2k server machine.
Thanks for your time,Chris

User does not have security rights to log in remotely?
Check the user properties in active directory.
