When I type a web address incorrectly, I am presented with a page sedo.com

This also happens when I try to connect to other machines on my local network. Any ideas where this is coming from?

What browser are you using? Do you have up-to-date spyware and anti-virus software installed and running?

Search your registry for sedo.com and delete any instances that crop up.

Also, when the sedo site is displayed, the name in the address bar still remains i.e. what I initially typed in.

i think there is a Trojan hidden from your system, and infected your IE.

you can change another browser such as firefox to have a try.

you can alse use "AdWare" to clean the Trojan , but I'm not sure whether it works.

If it is a "trojan" this freebie might be a better bet:
A-SQUARED FREE - JUST DOWN PAGE

No harm trying both - get their updates before running them.

... not everything is in the registry - there's also the HOSTS file as well as iereset.inf (if the browser is after all, Internet Exploder)

Hijackthis would be one way to make a quick determination - you don't need to be 'an expert' to spot any instances of 'sedo.com'

Otherwise, you could check or replace those files manually

I'm not one of those who think Bill Gates is the devil. I simply suspect that if Microsoft ever met up with the devil, it wouldn't need an interpreter.
