Hi I have a windows 2000 server in my room that i use for test purposes. I would like to disable the password complexity and other such poilicies on it..like the minimum password legth requirements. But since the computer is part of my corporate domain i see that even if i change the policies on the local machine , the effective policies tell me the complxity is required and the min length is 8 characters. I disconnected form the network and log in the local mode. even then the change persists. Is there a way i can make the change. What if i log into the corporate domain then will teh changes be lost. please help raj

Hello Do you mean by effective policies the column in the Local Security Settings (right section of the mmc) named Effective Setting ? If yes, do a right click on the Security Settings (left part of the mmc), and choose Reload option from the popup. I hope that will help you. - Please reply using my e-mail adress
