Hello, I’ve installed W2K on my PC. The thing won’t shut down on its own though: it shows this window saying that it is now safe to turn off the computer. How can I make the PC turn itself off?

You have to go to the Power Options in control panel and turn on Advanced Power Management.

Check in the device manager of system properties to see if legacy AT APM support is installed instead of an ACPI complient system? I can't remember the specific details, but you'll need to check that the BIOS and motherbiard are fully ACPI compliant and that all the correct ACPI drivers are installed. Some older, not fully supported ACPI systems will still turn themselves off, if the hardware supports it and the correct drivers for an ACPI BIOS and APM support are installed and correctly configured.
