W2k Prof. freezes at shutdown

When i shutdown my computer, it freezes in the screen that sais "you can turn off your computer now"
I don't tell you my computer characteristics because i've seen this problem in various computers.

this usually has to do with the APM (advanced power managment) go to Control Panel>Power Management and check the box to enable APM. If it's not available, you may have to update the BIOS

W2K does not like certain virus scan operations during shutdown, some virus scan software programs scan your floppy drive (norton) for example. if you are using a virus software go to the virus config. and select no floppy drive check,
