Hi
I am trying to install w2k pro onto a new system. I get through the setup (EULA, partitioning/formating, copying of files). When the system reboots, it freezes at the Windows 2000 logo screen.
I have tried booting from the CD as well as from boot disks, several times, with the same result.

Hi Alan. You could try at the Dos prompt to type fdisk /mbr This will refresh the master boot record. If that does not work, I would be inclined to Install it again over itself, as it may just be a glich in the instalation of the program. Have a nice day.

Do you have any add-in cards in your PC? if you do I'd pull them all out and install Windows without them and then add them afterwards. I've known it do this if it doesn't like certain SCSI or sound cards. Also make sure your mobo BIOS is upto date.

also it will sometimes freeze here when trying to look for a DNS server. If one is not available then it will freeze. I think that pulling all your add in cards and reinstalling is a very good idea though.
